Kitchen Zip - New Kitchen Trends

Kitchen Trends for 2014 & 2015

The hottest products for this year and beyond!

The major trend in kitchen color is mixing light and dark finishes. For awhile now, the antique white finishes and dark ebony tones have been very popular. Now we are seeing a mixture of the two extreme aesthetics and, as a result, many people are mixing dark counter tops with light colored or white cabinetry or vice versa. The trend seems to be gaining a hold as top designers and designer magazines are showcasing this style consistently now.

The dominance of double bowl sinks in kitchen design has come to an end and now, throughout the industry, we see a monumental shift towards single bowl kitchen sinks. As the single basin sink trend moves forward, the addition of apron or farmhouse style sinks has rooted. These popular throwback sinks are not only visually pleasing, but also serve a utility in not getting the underlying cabinetry wet from dish washing and general sink use. The zero radius design has been gaining traction, as people are drawn to the modern styling, while also getting more space from these commercially inspired sinks.

With the increase in single bowl and zero radius sinks we have noticed a decided leaning towards the industrial flavor of kitchen hardware. Gone are the old trapping of traditional fixtures and now people are demanding ,commercial-style hardware and fixtures to fill their kitchens. Pull-down, spring-coiled faucets are a noticeable plumbing fixture that are now becoming more and more commonplace. Not even reminiscent, but almost carbon copied from the restaurant style faucets these eye catching conversation pieces are now the center piece of an accomplished kitchen design. Brands such as Blanco, Vigo, and Lottare, all have popular models of this style kitchen faucet.
